An award-winning chef could be in the running for a top prize after being nominated by West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin.
Bruce Lawrence, chef proprietor at the Star Inn, in Pershore has been nominated to compete in the Parliamentary Pub Chef Awards which aims to recognise the best pub chefs in the UK.
The competition, which is run by the British Beer and Pub Association, encourages MPs to nominate a local chef to be shortlisted for a prize, with the winner announced early next year.
Harriett last week went to visit the Star Inn to chat to Bruce and talk about his thriving local business.
Harriett said: “Bruce has a huge collection of awards in chef skills competitions having worked offshore on oilrigs and within major contract caterers.
“He’s now bringing his skills to Worcestershire and has taken over the running of the Star Inn with his partner Danielle Cashmore transforming the business with impressive pub food and a pre-theatre menu.
“It is good to see places like the Star Inn getting a makeover and promoting what is clearly a great restaurant in a great location.
“This is the first time I have nominated a pub chef for this competition so I will be looking out for star chefs over the coming year to see who else is worthy of an award.”
