Traders in Upton-upon-Severn have been given an early Christmas boost after news that gas supply roadworks have been postponed until next year.
The work was scheduled to be carried out between September and December affecting many of the roads in the centre of the town. The work will now start in February.
Harriett said: “I am delighted that National Grid has taken the right steps and postponed this work to allow local traders to make the most of the Christmas sales period.
“I am also grateful for the efforts of the local Upton Business Association who worked with the power company to find an acceptable solution.
“I am glad that common-sense has prevailed and the town is given every opportunity to make the most of the run up to Christmas to encourage local people to shop locally for their Christmas presents.
