Local homes and businesses in West Malvern are now able to enjoy superfast internet connections after a sustained lobbying campaign by Harriett Baldwin.
Harriett spoke up on behalf of local residents to help to press through an urgent upgrade to the BT cabinet on Westminster Bank in West Malvern delivering high speed internet to local people.
Harriett teamed up with the local Malvern Gazette in 2012 to press for the upgrade work, which was completed in December 2013.
Harriett said: “I was contacted by local people in West Malvern about hold ups upgrading the internet connections and I took up their case with BT and helped to speed up securing planning permissions for the new cabinet.
“This week I have been knocking on doors in the area and I have been getting great feedback about how much of a difference superfast broadband has made.
“I am pleased we have delivered 99 per cent superfast broadband coverage to Malvern and if I am elected as MP for West Worcestershire on May 7, I will continue to press for upgrades across rural areas during the next Parliament.
“I continue to encourage people to sign up for superfast broadband where it is available and help the county council to invest more funds in connections across Worcestershire.”
