Extra safety measures will be put in place at un-manned rail crossings in Malvern from this week following a review.
Trains passing through crossings at Jamaica Road and Lower Howsell have to sound a horn to warn people in the vicinity and these warning will end later and start earlier after Network Rail carried out a review.
West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin and Worcestershire County Councillor Paul Tuthill visited the crossings in September and Harriett offered her support to the councillor who has been campaigning on safety concerns at the crossings.
Harriett commented: “I visited the two sites with Councillor Tuthill and he outlined some of the local concerns about the use of the two crossings.
“Network Rail has looked into these matters and introduced measures to help protect people using the crossing late at night and early in the morning.
“Having spent a little time at the site it is clear that there is a lot of rail traffic going along these lines and safety must be our absolute priority.
“I understand that the county council is looking into other measures to make these crossing safe for local people and will be meeting with Councillor Tuthill in the coming weeks to discuss this matter.”
