West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has delivered on a pledge to support local air ambulance charity bid to secure funds for a new helicopter. The MP wrote to the Chancellor supporting the charity’s bid for £1 million from the fund created from fines levied on the major banks over the Libor scandal. The charity has written to Harriett confirming that the charity was granted the funds in the Autumn Statement and will be placing an order for the new H145 helicopter for delivery in 2018. Harriett commented: “I met with the Air Ambulance team in May and offered to support their bid for extra funds to help upgrade the fleet. I was pleased to see the announcement in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement and grateful for the confirmation letter from the charity itself. “The Air Ambulance provides important critical cover for people involved in serious incidents and I am sure the new helicopter will make a big difference to the charity. “We are blessed with some beautiful rural countryside but this can be very difficult to navigate in times of emergency so it is comforting to know that this new helicopter will help secure the future of the air ambulance for years to come.” Photo: Flashback to May: Harriett Baldwin MP gets a VIP tour of the Strensham HQ and its helicopter fleet with pilot Jeremy Spiers.
