West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has met with Health and Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt to discuss measures to help the improvement of the local NHS.
The MP joined Worcestershire colleagues to discuss the local NHS.
Last week, the county Trust which manages mental health, community hospitals and district nurses received a good report by the Care Quality Commission but the Acute Hospitals, including Worcestershire Royal Hospital, remain in special measures.
Harriett described the meeting as constructive and offered her continued support as the Acute Trust management works towards delivering substantive improvement for patients.
Harriett commented: “As a group of Worcestershire MPs, we met with Jeremy Hunt to discuss the latest development within our local NHS and I welcome his commitment to improving patient experiences in the Accident and Emergency Department in particular.
“It is worth repeating that each recent CQC report has praised the quality of care offered by nurses at Worcestershire Royal and as MPs we have been keen to recognise the hard work carried out by our highly valued NHS staff.
“The principle problems have been structural and a plan is in place to increase the Worcester hospital’s capacity and, under the leadership of Michelle McKay and its new interim chairman, I hope that we are on a pathway towards significant improvement.
“I know that people working in the NHS have welcomed the latest pay rises of between 6.5 and 29 per cent and the Government has also committed £29 million to help improve buildings and services at Worcestershire Royal.
“Our local health service is incredibly important to my constituents and I will continue to work hard to support the hard-working and dedicated staff who care for us and our loved ones.”
