West Worcestershire arriett Baldwin is urging local people to go out and enjoy our popular tourist attractions as the summer holidays approach. The MP made the call during a visit to Witley Court, which is attempting to boost visitor numbers at the popular tourist destination in the heart of rural Worcestershire. Witley Court is managed by English Heritage, which recently launched a virtual reality mobile phone application which allows visitors to tour the site and see how rooms used to look before fire destroyed the stately home in 1937. The application is part of a campaign to make more of the historic location which has extensive grounds and an impressive fountain which is now fully restored and is ‘fired’ every hour during the day. Harriett commented: “We have some wonderful gems in the Worcestershire countryside and this summer I am encouraging more people to take a trip to learn more about our own heritage. “The county has such a rich history but I often hear people say that they haven’t visited these treasures on our own doorstep. “I am taking time, this summer, to get round many of our local visitor attractions and wave the flag for local tourism.” Photo: In front of the famous Andromeda and Perseus fountain (l-r) Matt Bulford, Harriett Baldwin MP and Robert Edwards.
