Members of Pershore Riverside Centre met with West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin to lobby for improved river access.
Current legislation means that some rivers and their banks are owned by individual land owners and there are sometimes arguments with people trying to fish stretches of water where canoeists and kayakers are also present.
Harriett chatted to local group representatives and agreed to raise the matter with her colleagues in Westminster.
Harriett commented: “I visited the Pershore Riverside Centre a couple of years ago to open the extension and it’s a great place for people to come together, enjoy wonderful facilities and get some fresh air and exercise.
“West Worcestershire is blessed with three rivers running through it and I welcome all efforts to allow more people to make more use of this natural resource.
“I understand that legal anomalies mean that there are sometimes points of conflict between people wanting to paddle on the river and people wanting to fish in it.
“I have written to the Government asking Ministers to look into this matter and see if there is a way that we can find a suitable compromise.”
