West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin welcomed more than 100 local business women to a high level networking event in Malvern, last week. And the MP highlighted the Government’s effort to deliver more employment opportunities for women as well and huge steps towards delivering better pay. And Harriett also celebrated the fact that the event, run by women, for women, allowed local businesswomen to network and share their knowledge and expertise and was attended, almost exclusively, by women. The MP was guest speaker at an event run by Worcestershire’s chamber of commerce held at the Abbey Hotel in Malvern. Harriett commented: “It was an honour to speak as such a prestigious gathering of local business women. “I was inspired to get into business and then politics by my late mother, who was determined that her daughters should have more opportunities to succeed than she ever did. “I found it inspiring to see so many local women getting together to network and share their expertise. I am glad that Worcestershire is home to such a progressive and ambitious group of business leaders. “One of my ambitions when I was a Treasury Minister was to drive efforts to deliver equal pay and opportunities for women and now I have returned to the backbenches, I intend to be a strong voice in Parliament on this issue. “Giving all girls and women access to 12 years of proper education and then equal opportunities and equal pay could not be more important for our future and the broader success of our global economy.”
