West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin joined Prime Minister David Cameron in a role lobbying for local rail services.
The MP has been elected a vice-president of the Cotswold Line Group alongside luminaries including the PM. Neighbouring MP Robin Walker and University vice-chancellor David Green were also elected at the annual general meeting on Saturday.
Harriett said: “I am very pleased to join such illustrious company taking a role steering the Cotswold Line Group.
“The group is very serious in the task of improving rails services between London and the county.
“Rail commuters get a very bad deal at the moment and I will continue my efforts to bring proper investment into the area and to complete the dualling of the line all the way to Oxford.
“As the rail franchise comes under review, the Cotswold Line Group, with its influential members, has an important voice to press for better provision for Worcestershire.”
