West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today welcomed news that Pershore’s train station is to get money for major improvement work.
Franchise operator First Great Western today confirmed that the station will benefit from major improvements to the stations car park.
Plans are currently being drawn up before the work is put out to tender.
Harriett has been a long-time campaigner for improved facilities at the Pershore station and has raised the issue in meetings with First Great Western.
Harriett commented: “Regular commuters using Pershore station will know that this is a long-awaited improvement and I am pleased that the funding has been given the green light.
“I also hope that, as the new timetable beds in, commuters will see an improvement in the number of train services using the Cotswold Line.
“The dualling work which happened during the summer should reduce train journey times and I hope that more trains will be introduced to the route of the next year.”
