Harriett Baldwin's attempt to solve a complex constitutional issue have ended after her Private Members Bill was defeated in the House of Commons.
The MP had introduced a bill to address the controversial West Lothian Question dealing with anomalies facing Members of Parliament voting on matters affecting each of the four nations of the United Kingdom.
But the MP did succeed in persuading the Government to announce a commission to look into the issue and details of this will be announced next month.
Harriett commented: “I am pleased that my Private Members Bill has been able to prompt the Government to act and announce a commission.”
