Harriett Baldwin has received some reassurance from the Worcestershire County Council after receiving a briefing on the scheduled repair work to Tenbury’s bridge.
The county council has confirmed in a letter to Harriett that the bridge will be kept open for pedestrians, cyclists and mobility scooters during the repair work.
Emergency services will also get access to the bridge allowing first response teams to attend urgent callouts.
Malvern Hills District Council last week confirmed that business may get a discount on their rates owing to potential disruption to Tenbury businesses.
Harriett commented: “I am pleased that the county council is consulting local residents and reacting to feedback that I have been passing on to the transport team.
“It is essential that they have a comprehensive plan to minimise the impact of this work on the town.
“I understand that the council is now looking at a plan which will allow the bridge to be open for some traffic during the work.
“I was also pleased to see that the district council is trying to alleviate any financial losses which may occur for local businesses.
“I will continue to keep a close eye on the planning for this project and hope that the final plan will reassure as many people as possible in the town.”
