West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin this week urged young people to go online to submit their business ideas for a slice of a £100,000 prize. The competition is being run by Barclays Bank and Channel 4 to find businesses and community based projects across the UK. Young people aged between 16 and 21 can submit ideas onto a website and short-listed ideas will be judged by celebrity entrepreneurs including lastminute.com founder Martha Lane Fox. Harriett commented: “I know there are many ambitious young people who have great business ideas but don’t have the backing to turn them in to reality. “The overall aim of the project is to show that anyone can run a small business or social enterprise if they have the right idea. “This competition is a great way of helping people to understand what they can get from being in business and the rewards they can get from giving back to society in a social enterprise.” Young people can enter The Stake via the competition website www.thestake.co.uk and resources for teachers and youth workers are available to be downloaded from www.barclaysmoneyskills.com/resources
