West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today announced a county-wide drive to encourage businesses to increase their export capability. Some Worcestershire companies are already world-famous for their products but the MP is planning to bring major global trade delegations to the county to meet with local businesses. The MP has linked up with her five county Westminster colleagues to host a major trade fair on March 30. The event will be promoted through the local media and by each of the six local MPs and the local chamber of commerce as well as the Local Enterprise Partnership, other local business organisations and local councils. Harriett said: “The county has some amazing businesses which already put Worcestershire on the map but it is essential that we give every business – regardless of size - a chance to export where possible. “I am keen to get the date in people’s diaries and to start spreading the word that Worcestershire really is open for business. “With current problems trading in the Eurozone, it is essential we all look further afield and many local companies don’t have the time or resources to look beyond northern Europe to trade. “We will be bringing in a parade of trade delegations to make this task much easier and I hope it will unlock the door to some substantial deals.”
