West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today welcomed news that the Chancellor will delay fuel tax hikes until the end of the year.
George Osborne yesterday announced the scrapping of the last of a series of Fuel Duty rises planned for last year and this year by the previous Government.
Harriett said: “I have raised local fuel price concerns with both the Chancellor and the Office of Fair Trading.
“Businesses and families are concerned about the cost of living and fuel prices are a large part of consumer spending.
“I am sure local people will welcome the fact that the Chancellor has listened and this is very good news.
“However, it is just as important that the fuel companies price their petrol fairly at the pump and with falls in the cost of oil in international markets, I will continue to monitor local prices to make sure that they aren't making unfair profits.”
