Harriett Baldwin MP today launches a search for county companies looking to export to Russia. The MP has called on local companies to contact her after an invitation from the Governor to take a trade delegation to Ulyanovsk in western Russian in October. The invitation follows Harriett’s successful trade fair where more than a dozen countries visited Worcestershire in March. Ulyanovsk has an engineering and industrial manufacturing base and its businesses are similar to those based in Worcestershire. Harriett has already lined up a number of companies to join her on the trade mission and she is calling for more local companies to contact her to join the trip. Harriett commented: “I was very pleased when I received the invitation from the Governor to take some of our local businesses to Ulyanovsk. “The two areas have a similar profile of businesses. Like Malvern, many of their key manufacturing resources were relocated to the area during the second world war. “The city is sited on the River Volga and it is within easy reach of Moscow. “I am looking for companies which have aspirations to export products and expertise to this important global trade partner and I hope to take a group of companies on a trip to build trade links later this year.” Companies will need to fund their own travel costs. An itinerary is being arranged in consultation with the Foreign Office and the Governor of Ulyanovsk. The Russian embassy has agreed to fast-track visa applications and the UK Trade and Investment team will be advising companies on doing business in Russia. Companies interested in getting more information should contact Harriett’s constituency office at Malvern Hills Science Park on 01684 585165.
