West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week offered reassurance following concerns over the Post Office service in Lower Broadheath.
The MP has had discussions with senior Post Office management after local publicity suggested that the service may be closed down later this year.
The Post Office has confirmed that it is “fully committed” to maintaining a service in the village and is having ongoing discussions with the village shop owner to secure a long-term future for the service.
Harriett commented: “The Lower Broadheath Post Office is an important local resource and very handy drop-in for customers travelling in and out of Worcester.
“I am told that there is a good level of custom for the business and it is a perfect ‘local’ post office and I am reassured that the Post Office has no plans to close down this important local service.”
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Customers should be assured that the Post Office is committed to maintaining a Post Office service in Lower Broadheath and will work hard to ensure this.
“We are aware of some concerns locally about the current location and if we have to consider an alternative solution in the future it would be subject to a full public consultation.”
