West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has agreed the confirmation of a new configuration of health care services across the county. The clinical commissioning groups and NHS Acute Trust have accepted proposals which will see an enhanced A&E service operated at Worcester Royal Hospital with an ‘Emergency Centre’ set up at the Alexandra Hospital. The review, which was started in January 2012, was started to help to find a more efficient configuration for delivering healthcare services across Worcestershire. The agreed outline plan will now be prepared in full and submitted to NHS England for final confirmation. Harriett commented: “I am pleased that this latest hurdle has been passed in the lengthy journey to reconfiguring healthcare services in the county. “I have always said that my constituents were keen to ensure that they got access to services as close as possible to their homes. “This plan will hopefully mean that people will have to make shorter journeys to access most services offered by the Acute Trust. “I also welcome the plans by the clinical commissioners to ensure that this plan is mapped to provision of public transport services. “With certain routes currently under review, I feel it is important that the clinical commissioner take these proposed changes into account and ensure no one is left un-connected to the right place for their treatment.”
