West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed a £5 million fund offered to help sports clubs recover from flood damage.
Sport England has announced that grants of up to £2000 are available for sports clubs which have been affected by the floods.
The money can be used for paying for clearing flood debris, fixing damage to electrical services or cleaning changing rooms.
Clubs with more extensive damage can also apply for special funding and Sport England has set up a website to advise leisure venues about how to access relief funding.
Harriett commented: “The Government has unveiled a number of measures to help hard-working home and businesses owners and farmers with extra bills as a result of the floods.
“Sports fields, leisure facilities and clubs which have also been affected and will be able to apply for funds in the next couple of weeks and the money will be made available almost immediately.
“I think it is great that Sport England has taken this step and I hope that sports clubs and leisure facilities will take advantage of this fund to get back to normal as quickly as possible.”
