County cider makers will get a welcome boost following news that cider duty has been frozen in the Budget.
And West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the move which will offer hope to apple farmers who have been affected by poor weather conditions and floods.
The duty freeze on cider and a one penny cut in beer tax are great news for local producers of apples and hops.
Harriett commented: “Cider apples are an important part of the economy of our beautiful area and I am sure that the freeze in cider duty will help responsible drinkers enjoy more of their favourite tipple in our excellent local pubs.
“For farmers whose orchards have been flooded, there is a special Government fund to help farmers impacted by flood damage and this additional news in the budget is proof that this Government is eager to support the local brewing industry.
“I hope that this good news will be well received both in the fields but also in our important local community pubs which will be passing on cheaper prices to their customers.”
