West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today welcomed a £15million fund which will help churches to fix damaged roofs and guttering. Local churches can apply for grants of up to £100,000 to help carry out urgent repairs to churches. There are more than 70 churches in Harriett’s constituency which may qualify for the new fund. The Church Commission has written to Harriett asking her to spread the word about the fund and the MP will this week be writing to every suitable church in her constituency. Harriett commented: “Parish churches are such an integral part of the fabric of our county and I welcome this fund as many local churches face a huge bill for upkeep. “I am sending out the full details to all the churches in my constituency and I hope that those who fit the criteria will apply for the funding. “We will still have to do our bit at Church fetes and raffles, but the Chancellor has added some welcome millions to church funds.”
