Local MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to Malvern Vale residents who are calling for the introduction of bus services to the new development.
The MP has written to Worcestershire County Council to back requests by local people to connect into the existing bus network.
Transport chiefs at the county council have confirmed that the 44 service between Malvern and Worcester will be extended to cover Malvern Vale operating every 20 minutes during the day.
The new bus services will come into place once housing developer Persimmon Homes have completed their work on improving the roads and pavements as well as some scheduled junction improvement work at Sayers Avenue.
Harriett commented: “I continue to press Persimmon Homes to complete the scheduled road surfacing as well as levelling out the speed humps.
“This work is essential to ensure local people don’t have to walk too far to reach nearby bus stops as well as reducing the extra wear and tear on cars caused by temporary road surfaces.
“Bus services are vital to help take the pressure off our over-congested road links and I was pleased that the council council has confirmed that there will be no further reductions of local bus services after the comprehensive review last year.
“I have thanked the county council for agreeing to this extension to the bus service and together we will work with the developer to ensure it completes its tasks and finishes off the job as swiftly as possible.”
