Harriett Baldwin is celebrating today after helping to secure millions of pounds to help upgrade county school buildings. The MP lobbied Ministers on behalf of local schools for work which will carry out vital building upgrades in primary and secondary schools in her constituency. Top of the list was investment in much-needed new sixth form centre at Hanley Castle and Harriett intervened with the department to recommend this project. Other funding projects which have been approved today (March 26) include work to improve buildings at Suckley, Great Malvern and St Mathias Primary Schools and work at the Chase Technology College, Pershore High School and the Chantry. Harriett commented: “Congratulations to all these successful schools. I have worked tirelessly in Westminster to press both for a fairer funding deal for our schools but also a fairer share of investment in school buildings. “I have been closely involved in the bid to secure funding for the new sixth form block at Hanley Castle High School but I have also pressed for investment at the other high schools and primary schools. “After lengthy applications, a funding package for county schools has been agreed and schools will be able to carry out much needed repairs and upgrades. "Our children only get one chance at a good education and I want to see our local schools thrive. “These investments are possible because the long term economic plan is working well and this could not be a better example of how Conservatives commit to fixing the roof while the sun shines.”
