West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has urged rural communities to speak up and press for faster broadband connections in their villages. The project team leading the superfast broadband roll-out programme is asking for people to take part in a survey to discover which areas want to benefit from faster broadband. Thousands of homes across the county are not currently expected to be part of the Superfast Worcestershire programme but the team is looking for further evidence of demand ahead of assessing future roll-out projects. Harriett commented: "Although the Superfast Worcestershire team has made great progress in the urban areas, there are very many homes and businesses which don't fall into an area lined up for an upgrade. "The Government is looking at alternative solutions, including using satellite broadband to upgrade hard-to-reach areas and there is a target to get everyone able to connect to a superfast connection by the end of the decade. "For some people, satellite broadband or 4G broadband may be an alternative solution but extending the fibre network is an essential piece of work for most rural home and business owners "If you are unhappy with your current connection and want to benefit from superfast broadband speeds, it is essential that you fill in the survey and make sure that the county council know your views."
