Supermarket giant Tesco will next week start to clear the old cattle market site ahead of constructing a new outlet in the town. The retailer contacted Tenbury MP Harriett Baldwin updating her on plans to start demolition work. Earlier in the year, Harriett wrote to the company asking for updates on plans to develop the site. Tesco contacted Harriett yesterday (July 8) confirming that demolition work is set to begin and should be complete by the first week in August. Harriett commented: “I am grateful for the update from Tesco. The old cattle market has become a target for acts of vandalism and it is not good for the town's image. “There is still no firm start date for work, but the work should include a new flood wall along the car park forming an important addition to the town’s future flood defences. “The company has also committed to contributing to the town’s volunteer bus service which badly needs some financial support.
