West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed progress to secure a better funding deal for county schools. All the secondary schools in West Worcestershire will be getting an increased funding deal from 2018 helping successful schools to get even better. The proposals, confirmed by Education Secretary Justine Greening yesterday (December 14), will mean that schools will get an individual funding deal based on a set of revised criteria - including the new measure of 'rural sparsity'. Harriett commented: "Securing fairer funding for our local schools has been my number one priority so I am pleased to see that the high-performing secondary schools are getting an uplift in their budgets. This will be a massive boost for parents and teachers. "There is mixed news for the county's primary schools and I will be looking at the data in more detail to understand the impact on specific schools in West Worcestershire. "The Department is carrying out a further round of consultation early next year and I will be planning my own formal response in due course. "I have been lobbied hard by the secondary school head teachers to press for a better funding deal and I am pleased that we have been able to deliver on this manifesto commitment."
