Schools across Worcestershire will be getting extra cash from a £466 million national fund to help schools carry out improvement works. The funding boost, confirmed today by the Department for Education will mean that schools will be able to carry out work such as roof and window repairs. The Department has contacted West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, who welcomed the latest good news for local schools. Schools getting access to the Condition Improvement Fund include Hanley Castle High School, Dyson Perrins Academy, The Chase and Pershore High School as well as a number of smaller primary schools. Harriett commented: “Each year, schools bid for funds to help them improve their buildings and I am delighted to see extra cash going to some of our high-performing schools. “There is still work to be done to address the wider fairer funding issue but this pot of cash will help schools to carry out repairs and improvements. “From my conversations with local teachers, I know how welcome this cash boost is, but I will continue to press for a broader improved funding deal with my colleagues in Westminster.”
