West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed plans to consult on improvements to the A417 removing a major pinchpoint for local commuters.
Many drivers who travel to London and the south east are aware of the significant delays that can occur along the single-land stretch of road between Cheltenham and Cirencester.
Highways England are about to start a consultation process to plan for the so-called ‘missing link’ road improvements to dual the route that with a budget of up to £500 million.
Views are being sought on the proposal and plans will be published both at local community centres along the route, but also on the Highways England website.
Harriett commented: “I am a regular user of this route and I am sure there are many local drivers who will want to have their say on the plans to address this pinchpoint.
“It is a major road project that needs to be done right so I hope local people will take the time to consider the proposals and feedback.
“Highways England carries out regular consultation exercises on its plans but very few people take the trouble to speak up. With this in mind, I am always keen to share the details of relevant consultations, which will affect local people and encourage them to take part.”
The proposals will be published at http://roads.highways.gov.uk/projects/a417-missing-link/
