West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to a campaign to encourage more people to set up small businesses. The Federation of Small Business has launched a campaign – ‘Think Self-Employed’ - to help more people to start up their own enterprise. The FSB has also suggested a range of measures which can help people to become self-employed ahead of the Budget later this year. Harriett commented: “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and I support the Federation’s efforts to encourage more people to consider self-employment. “Nine out of ten businesses in West Worcestershire are micro-businesses with fewer than nine employees and these are the sort of companies that were started up in people’s garages and back bedrooms as they take the leap into self-employment. “Worcestershire has a great track-record for helping new start-ups to grow fast and there are many examples of local businesses which have gone on to achieve great things. “Self-employment can be very satisfying for some and I look forward to meeting up with the FSB to hear the results of this campaign.”
