West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed work which will see a Malvern Post Office getting a full refurbishment.
The Post Office on Upper Howsell Road is currently closed for improvement work and is expected to re-open on September 21. Customers are being encouraged to use Malvern Link or Pickersleigh Road Post Offices while the work is being carried out.
The Government has committed £370 million to improving the Post Office network, focusing on allowing stores to invest in new technology.
The news follows the confirmation that the Lower Broadheath store will re-open with a Post Office later this year and this weekend, Alfrick’s volunteer-run village store and Post Office will celebrate moving into new premises.
Harriett commented: “The investment in our Post Office network is great news and although people in Upper Howsell will be inconvenienced for a couple of weeks, I am sure that the end result will be worthwhile.
“The Government is investing a huge amount of money in improving the Post Office network and the great news from Lower Broadheath and Alfrick and further back, Kempsey and Martley, shows how much people in West Worcestershire value their local Post Office and village shops.
“I hope to have a look at the new Upper Howsell Post Office when it has re-opened and look forward to joining villagers in Alfrick this Saturday to mark another amazing milestone in this fabulous community project.”
