West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed new that the county council has intervened following the closure of a series of bus services run by First Bus Midlands. And a new provider – LMS Travel – has agreed to offer some replacement services in Malvern filling the gap left when First Bus announced a series of route closures across the county. Harriett welcomed the news which will provide temporary solutions for people living in Great Malvern, Malvern Vale and West Malvern. Worcestershire County Council is planning to produce a timetable shortly and will update on other changes to bus services in the coming days. Harriett has met with local councillors to discuss the issue after being contacted by dozens of local people affected by the changes. Harriett commented: “This decision by First Bus to remove a number of crucial routes has had a worrying impact on local people and I have discussed the issue with local county councillors to see what they can do to address this matter. “I have been most alarmed at the way these changes will affect people who need to travel to hospital or their local GP and I am pleased at the way the county council has acted swiftly to identify alternative plans and alternative providers. “As always, it is really important that the bus services get used - that’s the best way to make them sustainable.”
