West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has nominated a popular country pub for a countryside ‘Oscar’.
The Old Bush Inn, in Callow End, was rescued from closure for years ago thanks to a campaign by local villagers and the current owners approached Harriett to support their bid for a Countryside Alliance award.
The MP has nominated the pub and judging will start early next year. The Countryside Alliance awards recognise rural businesses and champion local produce and last year two local businesses – Suckley Village Shop and the Talbot at Knightwick – were finalists.
Harriett commented: “I helped to publicise this national award scheme and I was delighted that Matt and Karen Williams from The Old Bush Inn got in touch to ask about supporting their nomination.
“Pubs have an important part to play, especially in rural communities, and I was happy to add my endorsement to the Old Bush Inn nomination.”
The hunt is still on for nominees and the awards close on December 9. More detail on getting nominated can be found by visiting the http://www.countryside-alliance.org/campaigns/caawards/.
