West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today welcomed the progress to improve a major traffic pinch-point speeding up journey times for county commuters. Many local drivers pass through the notorious Air Balloon roundabout between Cheltenham and Cirencester and have to cope with long rush hour delays travelling to and from Swindon and beyond. Highways England has confirmed the route which will see major road improvements which will improve journey times and reduce accidents along the busy stretch of road along the A417. Harriett contributed to the consultation process and fed back the views of local commuters who are regularly delayed at the roundabout and the stretch of single lane road between the Brockworth bypass and the Cowley roundabout. Harriett said: “Road users who travel towards London and the South East will know the serious delays that can occur at this traffic pinch-point and I was delighted to see that a new route has been selected. “This will be a major road project that will deliver better, more predictable, journey times and will hopefully make the road safer.”
