West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has expressed her disappointment after Highways England confirmed the closure of a vital link road over the M50 for the rest of the year. Highways England is carrying out repair works on bridges along the M50 through Pendock and until now, road closures have been kept to a minimum – with weekend and overnight closures and diversions in place. But the agency has this week confirmed that the full closure of the Queen’s Arms bridge over the M50 will extend until December leaving motorists with major diversions and delays to journeys. Harriett commented: “I am disappointed at this latest news and am concerned at the extra issues it will cause to local residents who use the road on a daily basis. “The length of the closure is very worrying and I have urged Highways England to ensure that they work closely with the local authorities and the community to minimise the impact of closures as much as possible. “I understand that local consultation events have been carried out and I will keep a close eye on this issue as the road closures are implemented.”
