West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called on the Post Office to speed up the delivery of the new Tenbury post office.
Harriett has asked Post Office managers for an explanation on why the store conversion is being delayed at the Spar store on Teme Street.
The MP visited the store last month where staff confirmed that they are ready to carry out the conversions necessary to allow the new Post Office to start trading.
Harriett commented: “It was really good news when the Spar was confirmed as the site of the new Post Office but I am concerned that red tape is holding up the process of getting the service up and running.
“I’ve asked for an update on what’s causing a hold up and I have offered my assistance if there is anything I can do to help speed this up.
“Tenbury people want their post office back as quickly as possible and although a temporary service is visiting the town once a week, it isn’t a viable solution for the residents and business who want a decent post office service in the run up to Christmas.”
