West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the confirmation that the newest county railway station will be open for passengers before the end of the month.
Trains will start using the Worcestershire Parkway station from February 23 marking the end of a nearly ten-year campaign.
Harriett started campaigning for the new station shortly after she was elected in 2010 and joined her local MP colleagues lobbying Worcestershire County Council and the Department for Transport to deliver the brand-new station.
Harriett commented: “Worcestershire Parkway has been a long-standing ambition of mine and it is fabulous news to see it finally opening for business.
“Like most of these major infrastructure projects, it has had challenges along the way, but I am delighted to see the paperwork finally complete allowing the station to start welcoming passengers.
“Rail travel is forming an important part of our national strategy to encourage people to use cars less, taking pressure of our congested motorways and reducing the impact on the environment.
“I can’t wait to start using it myself and I know that this announcement will be widely welcomed by local people.”
