West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that four local schools have been awarded cash to carry out repairs from a national fund to help improve school premises.
The Chase School, in Malvern, as well as Madresfield, Castlemorton and Martley Primary Schools have been successful in bids to carry out urgent repair works.
Harriett has been lobbying the Department for Education to support The Chase’s bid which will allow the school to upgrade its dilapidated heating systems. Funding will also go to Castlemorton to carry out heating and toilet repairs, roofing repairs at Madresfield and window and fire door replacement at Martley.
The annual Condition Improvement Fund makes awards to schools who need to make significant repairs to classrooms or other school buildings.
Harriett commented: “I am pleased to see some successful bids come through this year and I’m particularly pleased with the news that The Chase will finally be getting its heating upgrade.
“I wrote to the Secretary of State on this matter as it’s been a concern for quite some time and I’m glad the Department has approved this bid.
“There are still a number of significant projects outstanding that I am aware of and whenever I visit a primary school, I make sure they are aware of this important annual fund.”
