West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed confirmation that plans have been submitted for a roundabout to ease traffic flow on the outskirts of Upton-upon-Severn.
Harriett has been pressing for the investment in the busy road junction between Upton and the main A38 route between Worcester and the M5 for more than four years.
The scheme has now been submitted for planning by Worcestershire County Council and will be considered later this year.
Harriett has lobbied for a four-spur roundabout which will ease traffic flow for people entering the county from the motorway as well as traffic travelling between Upton and Pershore.
Harriett said: “This has always been a busy junction, particularly when there are one of the many festivals in Upton or during the major events at the Three Counties Showground.
“I’ve been lobbying for improvements to this junction for many years and I’m glad to see a solution put forward for consideration by county councillors.
“This is a vital gateway for people travelling into the county and I am pleased that the council is looking at an efficient roundabout configuration to allow the smoother passage of traffic towards Worcester, Malvern and Pershore.”
