West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that the Environment Agency will start consulting local people on the latest flood defence plans later this month.
The plans will be shown at the Regal Theatre on November 23 and November 30 allowing people to learn more about the proposals and share their views.
The feedback will be incorporated into a formal plan which will be considered by Malvern Hills District early next year. Work is expected to start on the scheme in the Spring.
Harriett commented:
“I am pleased to hear that the Environment Agency is ready to make the plans public and get local feedback.
“I’ve seen some early drafts of the proposals and the scheme appears to be making good progress but it is really important that local people study these plans in detail and share their views.
“This is a major construction project with a series of bunds, walls and gates and there are bound to be areas of debate as the plans are fine-tuned.
“I look forward to hearing the local feedback as we move towards delivering permanent protection for a town that has been blighted by major flood events so many times in living memory.”
