West Worccestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that extra signage will be installed along the busy A46 to improve road safety.
The MP had lobbied National Highways to investigate a busy stretch of road along Long Carrant Park where cars turn in and out of the residential park.
The agency has confirmed that extra warning signs will be designed and installed to encourage drivers to reduce their speed.
Dame Harriett visited Long Carrant Park with local Wychavon District Councilor Beverley Hardman in April to talk to local people who were worried about speeding drivers and the difficulty using the junction to get in and out of the site.
The announcement by National Highways was confirmed in a letter to the MP and it follows a successful campaign to reduce the speed limit at another stretch of the A46 at Hinton Cross, where there had been a series of fatal car crashes.
Dame Harriett said:
“I met with local people at the residential park and raised their concerns with National Highways. I am pleased that it has developed a plan to make another stretch of the A46 a little safer.
“Local people have told me that they feel the junction is dangerous and, together, we have been pushing for reduced speed limits. This has not been ruled out, but as an important first step, warning signs will be installed.
“I’m grateful to the community for sharing their concerns with me and I am sure that they will report back to me if this measure has helped.”
