Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire, which will include Tenbury from next General Election, has learned that the May 20th Bishop's Castle biomass decision could have a major impact on the Tenbury Biomass project.

Her first request to visit the Eccleshall biomass plant was rejected on the basis that the Eccleshall plant has technical problems. Her second request has been postponed until after the May 20th decision by Shropshire planners on the Bishop's Castle plant. Explaining the postponement, Joseph Pooler, Assistant Regeneration Officer from Worcestershire County Council said that rejection of the Bishop's Castle application would cause the Tenbury project to be reviewed.

Separately, Harriett Baldwin and Dr. Ken Pollock, the Conservative Candidate for County Council Division of Tenbury will visit Advantage West Midlands on May 22nd to discuss biomass plans in Worcestershire as well as support for business in the Tenbury area.

Harriett Baldwin said, "I have maintained all along that the proposed site for the Tenbury Biomass Plant is wrong for three reasons - the site is a business park, not an industrial park; the distance to the National Grid involves extensive work and the lorries through Tenbury could be disruptive. I have been pressing Worcestershire County Council and CJDay to find a better location for this plant."
