Harriett Baldwin has given her backing to a campaign to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer.
The MP wore a ‘blue man’ badge in the House of Commons to support the launch of the awareness campaign.
Harriett said: “I am pleased to help raise awareness for this campaign and help prevent 100,000 preventable deaths every year in this country. My father was diagnosed early and his prostate cancer is completely under control.”
“We still have a long way to go in terms of understanding the causes and identifying the most effective ways of diagnosing and treating prostate cancer - as well as improving the public’s knowledge of some of the issues faced by people affected by the disease.”
Dr Sarah Cant, Head of Policy and Campaigns for The Prostate Cancer Charity said: “There are 250,000 men living with the disease in the UK, yet many of them are still facing difficulties in accessing the support and information that they need to cope.
“We want to galvanise people in calling for the improvements in men’s experience of prostate cancer care that we urgently need to see."
