West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered to lobby the Education Department to make sure middle schools get proper support from Government. Abbey Park Middle School, which teaches pupils aged from nine to 12, is one of only 215 middle schools left in England and diminishing numbers mean that they are at risk of being ignored by policy makers. Harriett made the offer following a tour of the school and a briefing with head Lynn Evans and deputy head Nicky Sage as well as school governor Morna Ludlow. Harriett commented: “Abbey Park Middle School is a gem right in the middle of the town. “It has had a good Ofsted report and the team seem to be running an exemplary school. “Having toured the class rooms I can confirm that the pupils are well-mannered and peaceful and some of them even knew who I am. “I hope that the school will be able to take up an invitation to tour the Houses of Parliament next year. “I congratulate Lynn and her team for the amazing job they do. They are getting some recognition outside of the county winning several awards this year. “ Photo: Back row l-r Harriett Baldwin MP, Lynn Evans, Morna Ludlow, Nicky Sage Front row Charlie Cross, Abigail Elcocks.
