Local MP Harriett Baldwin today praised the work done by staff and pupils at a Malvern primary school.
The MP was speaking as she opened the new library block at St Matthias Church of England Primary School in Malvern Link today (October 5).
As well as the formal opening of the library, Harriett also took part in a question and answer session with the school council and toured the classes.
The school became an academy last year as part of an arrangement with four other local schools, including Dyson Perrin Academy.
Harriett commented: “Under the leadership of Claire Davies, the school has made huge strides out of special measures and is now officially rated 'good'.
"The academy links are working well for the school and the pupil premium is helping to support the children’s learning.
"It is clearly a delightful school with lots of happy children and they sang very beautifully. The staff are clearly doing a great job and the pupils are enjoying a strong primary education and lots of before and after school clubs, sports and activities.
“It is always nice to be invited to celebrate the opening of new facilities and the library will be a great asset to the school.
“I also enjoyed meeting with the School Council and I was impressed with the interesting questions which they put to me.
“I hope that the school will be able to visit the Houses of Parliament this year.”
