West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today welcomed extra measures which will help businesses to recover from the latest flooding. Prime Minister David Cameron this week visited Upton-upon-Severn and was able to announce a £10 million fund to help small businesses recover from the effect of flooding on trade. The pair also thanked members of the Royal Irish Regiment who have been in the town ferrying shoppers and tourists into the town. Harriett commented: “The Government was able to announce a series of measures for small businesses which have been affected by the floods to get back to normal as quickly as possible. “There are grants of up to £5,000 for repairs and betterment and the NFU is also offering guidance to farmers about how they can access funds to enable them recover quickly as well. “I am planning to meet with the action group in Severn Stoke to see what I can do to help and have already been assisting local people there as best I can. “I know the army has been doing a great job helping the local community in this difficult time and if there is a way that they can be used in the longer term I will make the case to Gold Command in due course.”
