West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has toured the £1.4m extension to St Richard’s Hospice which has improved capability at the highly valued care facility.
The MP was shown around the facility by chief executive Mark Jackson and fundraising director Tricia Cavell yesterday (Thursday April 17).
The improvements now give the hospice 13 single rooms and two double rooms as well as family sitting rooms, therapy rooms and a re-developed garden area.
Harriett commented: “St Richard’s is a very important resource for the county and I know a lot of local people work very hard to raise funds to support this worthy charity.
“I was honoured to be invited to tour the new extension and the improvements are very impressive.
“People often visit here when they are experiencing terrible sadness and I wanted to visit and pay tribute to all the staff who do such an amazing job to help local families through tough times.”
Mark added: “The new extension has been carefully designed and is fresh, homely and light with plenty of space for patients and their visitors.
“It fits beautifully with the rest of the hospice and already fits in very well. It’s even more special that we can open the extension in our 30th anniversary year. ”
