West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has been given a sneak preview of the new Malvern Fire Station which is expected to start being used at the end of July. The MP was taken on a tour of the new station by Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates and Malvern station commander Rob Allen. The station has been built using some of the features of the old building but has added extra space and more room for offices and training. It incorporates energy efficient windows and carpets made from recycled materials. Harriett commented: “The new facilities are very impressive and I am sure they will be welcomed by the crews who operate out of Malvern. “They have had to put up with a great deal, operating out of their temporary facility and I am sure that it will be a huge relief when they get to take possession of the building in a matter of weeks. “Malvern Link has enjoyed significant investment including a brand new community hospital, now a new fire station, the train station has been given a face lift and the county council have refurbished the pavements. “There is a real aura of confidence in the area and the long-term economic plan will help to build on this public sector investment. “I hope Malvern people are proud of the money that has been spent giving local people some of the best possible facilities and making the town such a great place to live and work.”
