West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week pledged to help Malvern Hills Science Park to expand creating new jobs for the town. The MP met with Science Park chief executive Alan White to discussed plans to create extra space for the popular business venue. The Science Park is currently fully occupied but work will shortly start on a new £4m office block which will free up more space for potential tenants. There is currently a long waiting list for companies who want to move onto the popular science park and the new building is expected to lead to 150 new jobs being created. Harriett said: “Malvern Hills Science Park plays a crucial role in helping to deliver economic growth to the region and many of the brilliant brains of Malvern have started and grown their companies here. “It is imperative that we help the Science Park to grow and I have offered my help to Alan and his team to try and find a way to create more office space for small and growing companies. “Malvern is already world-renowned for its brilliant brains. We must create the right conditions to mix innovation with entrepreneurialism and establish a world-class centre for business success. “The latest construction project at the science park is proof of the great confidence we all have in Malvern’s business community and that the Government’s long-term economic plan will help to deliver new jobs and growth for local businesses.” Alan White added: “I am grateful for Harriett’s continued support as the Science Park grows to meet the ever-rising demand. “Malvern has the right combination of a being great place to live along with possessing a bright, engaged workforce and more and more companies want to get a foothold in our vibrant working community. “Much of the behind-the-scenes lobbying carried out by Harriett has put us in a great position to succeed and we are also grateful for all the visits by Government ministers making sure Malvern is firmly on the Westminster radar.” Photo: Malvern Hills Science Park chief executive Alan White shows plans for the site expansion to MP Harriett Baldwin.
