West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to Tenbury’s Regal Theatre as it bids for funding to improve its facilities. The popular venue has now been running as a Trust for three years and it is now developing plans to improve its backstage areas and the function room. The work will allow the theatre to take on a wider variety of shows and increase its cash flow from private use of the venue. Harriett was briefed by the Trust’s chairman Peter Drew when she visited the Theatre last week (Friday November 6). Harriett commented: “The Regal Theatre is a wonderful community asset and I know that it is highly valued by local people who use it on a regular basis. “The improvement works will add extra capability, bringing better shows into town and the improvements to the function room will ensure extra revenues to re-invest in the theatre. “I was also interested to hear of the Trust’s outreach plans to try and get more people from the rural areas around the town into the theatre with the help of Tenbury Transport Trust. “I am delighted to offer my support to the Regal and I hope that the bid to secure funding for the project is successful.” Photo: Harriett Baldwin MP is shown plans to improve the Regal Theatre by Trust chairman Peter Drew.
